Abstract:
The Structural and functional sepcialization of the two cerebral himisphere has warranted a tremendous amount of research during the past century. A number of everyday occurrences, whether we are consciously aware of them or not, provide evidence for asymmetrical behavioral traits: the foot preference of the snowboarder, the ear preference of the cell phone user, or the inclination for most people to use their right hands for fine motor activities. Neuroimaging and lesion studies of the brainconfirm himispheric specialization (or lateralization) for specific behavioral functions and show pronounced asymmetries in the structure of some brain regions in the two hemispheres.
